On Friday, October 11, 2024, the Yerba Buena Warriors will embark on their first away journey for their second regular season game. They will face the 3-3 Gunderson Grizzlies. Here is what you should know about our upcoming game.

In their last matchup against the Grizzlies, Varsity unfortunately suffered a loss in their last game of the season. This year, our Yerba Buena Warriors will be meeting the Gunderson Grizzlies earlier in the season, hoping to claim their first win after an unfortunate 0-4 start. For this matchup, there will be NO JV game and Varsity will start at 7:15 pm at Gunderson High School. Be sure to SHOW UP and SUPPORT our football team! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!

On Friday, September 27th 2024 our first regular season game ended with a loss against our rivals the Andrew Hill Falcons with JV taking the loss 0-35 and Varsity had a close game but still lost 20-26.

Yerba Buena’s JV team had started off great on their first drive as wide receiver #4 Brylin Thomas caught the ball on the opponent's head from #3 Brandon Nguyen , but was called off because of an illegal motion. The Yerba Buena JV warriors had held up against the falcons during the first half. In their second half the warriors had sadly concluded the game 0-39 but they didn’t not stop trying and kept competing against their rivals. 

Opening up the regular season, Yerba Buena’s Varsity Warriors had put up a great first drive as their second play #1 Elijah Duncan took the ball up 50 yards for the touchdown leading the warriors up 7-0. Andrew Hill. In the first half of the game, #16 Brian Nguyen and #33 Michael Montoya sacked the Falcons, keeping them from scoring and bringing them back by 30 yards.  #5 Aiden Rodriguez made a touchdown in the first half along with that, #1 Elijah Duncan returned a touchdown on kick return making the score 20-19 with the Warriors winning by one so far in the first half of the game. Then, #85 Angel Estrada also sacked the Falcons with the score still staying at 20-19 until, sadly the Falcons ended up scoring another touchdown with the final score being 20-26. The YB Warriors can  and will recover from this and our next home game we will most definitely win it. Lets root for our Warriors out there on the field and we hope to see you there out on our next away game.

On Friday, September 27, 2024, the Yerba Buena Warriors will host their first regular season game against their biggest rival: Andrew Hill Falcons. Here is what you should know about our upcoming game.

Last year, both JV and Varsity unfortunately lost against Andrew Hill on a tough away journey. In 2022, our Warriors absolutely annihilated the Andrew Hill Falcons at our homecoming game; those were the most recent battles that we had against the Falcons. With this upcoming exciting roster and a brand new coaching staff, we are hoping our Warriors will put up their best fight and give our audience a THRILLING battle. For this game, our student section theme will be WHITE OUT against Andrew Hill’s BLACK OUT theme, make sure to come out in WHITE attire to show your love and support towards our football team. JV will start at 4:30pm and VARSITY will start at 7:15pm. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!

On Friday, September 13th, 2024, our YB Warriors were scheduled to go head to head against the Leland High Chargers in what was expected to be an exciting matchup. Unfortunately, YB's Varsity team players have faced a series of injuries and are not in the physical condition to compete at their best. To prioritize the health and safety of the team, Varsity has decided to forfeit the game. The well-being of the athletes is the top priority.

In addition to Varsity's team forfeit, the JV team has decided to forfeit their game as well. Despite the team's readiness and spirit, JV followed in support of the Varsity team. 

Even though this outcome is not what our Warriors have hoped for, the Varsity team remains focused on recovery and preparation for the upcoming season games. We hope our athletes make a quick and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing both Varsity and JV back in action soon.

On Thursday, September 6th, 2024 served our home crowd with a fair battle of the Yerba Buena Warriors against the Harbor Pirates. Our players once again put up another fight against their old opponent from the 2023-2024 football season. The game unfortunately ended with a loss continuing their losing streak of 0-2 into the season for both JV and Varsity. Here is the recap on our last football game:

The JV game concludes with the score of 6-21 with the Warrior’s only touchdown by our freshman #14 TE/OLB Justin Waters in the fourth quarter with a direct snap and go. We wish our JV players the best of luck for our next upcoming away game against the Leland Chargers.

Up next is the Varsity second home game, our Warriors put up a thrilling battle of a close game. In the first quarter, it ends with the score of 0-0 as a stepping stone under the night lights. Second quarter starts as the Harbor Pirates open the score with a touchdown with 8:21 left on the clock; the quarter ends with a score of 0-8. In the third quarter, our Varsity Warriors shortens the lead as the #1 WR Elijah Duncan scored a touchdown to add six points with the score of 6-8. Third quarter ends with the score of 6-20 with two touchdowns scored by the Pirates. Moving on to the fourth and final quarter, our #1 WR Elijah Duncan with a great carry for the touchdown to put up another 6 points on the scoreboard (YB 12-20). With our last hopes as the game comes down to the final minutes, our QB #10 Emanuel Velazquez launches the ball down the sideline to connect with #81 WR/QB Nathan Tran to score another touchdown and nearly tie the game with the score of 18-20. The Varsity game sadly ended with the score of 18-27 where our Yerba Buena Warriors put up a great competition to conclude it.

We wish our Yerba Buena Warriors the best of luck for their next football game. Don’t miss out on our next Warrior’s action!

On Friday September 6, YB'S football varsity's, JV'S second home pre season game they will be going against the Harbor Pirates JV'S game will start at 4:30-7:15 and varsity's game will start at 7:15-8:30 at the YB football field. This is the second time they are going against the Harbor Pirates last time they went against them they lost 29-26 this year we are hoping they do the best they can and see how the team plays with new freshmen players.

On Friday, August 30th, was our first YB preseason football game for our JV and Varsity teams. Unfortunately, both teams didn’t end up winning their first preseason games. YB lost to the Homestead Mustangs, at first we were doing pretty good until the next quarters where things got difficult for our football players. Here’s the recap on our first JV and Varsity games:

For JV, it was 0-6 at the end of first quarter, Homestead’s team was up one touchdown. At the end of the second quarter, it was the same from the first quarter. Finally, in the third quarter the Warriors tied the game at 6-6, #14 Justin Waters scored the next touchdown. Unfortunately, by the last quarter the Homestead Mustangs scored another touchdown. The final score was 6 for Yerba Buena Warriors and 12 for the Homestead Mustangs. 

For Varsity, the first quarter ended 6-13 with Mustangs in the lead. The second quarter ended 6-20, thanks to #23 WR, Kevin Tu the home crowd had something to cheer for!! Next up, the third quarter sadly ended 12-26 with another lead by the Homestead Mustangs. Unfortunately, the fourth quarter ended 18-41, #81 Nathan Tran made the touchdown. 

The Warriors put in their best effort against a team one division higher. We hope for the next game to be even better, and for the Warriors to win the next game and this will make them ready for the next upcoming games against other schools. Good luck to our Warriors, and see you guys on the football field making us proud.

On Friday, August 30th, 2024, YB's Varsity and JV team will have their very first home preseason game. Their football game will be at the YB football field. The JV game will start at 4:30 PM and the Varsity game will start at 7:15 PM. This is the first time our boy's are playing against the Mustangs. We are very excited to see what goes down on Friday. Let's kickoff the preseason game with amazing games.

      Welcome Yerba Buena students to ybsn.org, my name is Isaac with our co-host Shane. We're here reporting the yb football news and the latest updates. Last year our JV team went 7 and 3 and the Varsity team went 1 and 9. And we hope that this year they can do even better this brand new season of football. Also our football seniors from last year have graduated and moved on to college. Those seniors were Sean Gali, Alexander Murrillo, Isaiah Rivera, Omar Gonzales, Antiono Jimenez, Alan Rangel, Joshua Willis, Noe Escobedo, and Malachi McCray. We will miss our seniors and hope for the best for them. Moving on, the football tryouts are going to be taking place after school from 4:30-7:15, we hope to see some brand new players out there at our home and away games, along with our brand new coaches. Besides that, their preseason is gonna be coming up in a few weeks, our first one is this month at YB, they’ll be going up against the Homestead Mustangs on August 30, 2024. We hope we get to see all of you on our very first home game at the end of the month. Keep checking our website for updates and events.
