Beginning of Season

Hey! Hey! Warriors! With the end of water polo last year it was quite the season for both teams people made friends and rivals. Thank you to the people who played this season and the people  who came to games to support.

Last year the girls placed 9th with a score of 2-8 winning over Lincoln and Mt. Pleasant As for the boys they also placed 9th place with a score of 2-8 winning over Independence and Mt. Pleasant. At this point of time the water polo team will remain in the same league (B-league)

As the season went on many players showed improvement throughout the season, it was hard and tiring but they never gave up. The water polo team were very proud players with big expectations of taking on the other contenders in the league.

Hey! Hey! Hey! Warrior coming to you from YBSN. We would like to announce that the boys and girls water polo teams will be having a home game against Santa Teresa for the second time on September 30 @4:00pm

Last time our game on the girls side ended tragically with Santa Teresa winning with the score of 1-8 last they fought there hardest with them having one goal and over 15 blocks but it wasn't enough, same with the boys losing 4-21 they tried they’re best but it wasn't enough hopefully this time thing end differently.

Santa Teresa 09/30/25

HEY HEY HEY WARRIORS Coming to you from YBSN, Unfortunately the boys water polo team lost the home game against Santa Teresa high school. Some events that happen in the game are that Ethan Tran-Le scored our first point of the game in the second quarter. And Nathan Canton scored our second point in the third quarter. Nathan’s shot hit the cross bar and it bounced off of one of the defenders head and made it in. Our boys had a lot of shot attempts but sadly lots of them were shot over the goal.

-Leo Vargas

Two of our goals were scored by the captain Shalik Quezada and one was made by Marthe Laenens. Our goalie Evelyn Guitron had numerous good saves and is getting really good at passing the ball forward. Our lady warriors definitely did not go down without a fight and were able to prevent Santa Teresa from scoring as many goals as they did last time. Final Score: 3-13.

Marthe Laenens is a great player overall, being both a key offensive player and aggressive defender, in her second year of water polo she’s learned a lot and really grown as a player since last year.

Natalia Rodriguez puts in a lot of effort defensively and helps her team score with great assist passes and good communication with her teammates in the pool.

Kaylani Charles just started water polo this year and in this season and with this little amount of time she has grown so much and has become a good offensive player especially after scoring a goal which we are very proud of.

Boys Senior Night Post-Article

HEY HEY HEY WARRIORS coming to you from YBSN. We had an amazing game against independence on our senior night. The game started with one of our seniors, Vince Vu, scoring the first point of the game and setting the tone of the game for yerba buena. Ethan Tran-Le scores putting us back in the lead. Adding to that lead, Vince Vu and Brandon Pham both scored, widening the lead for our team. The whole game we had a good lead but then in the last quarter Ethan Tran-Le went on a killing spree and scored 4 points back to back guaranteeing the win for YB.

Our boys played good offense and played amazing defense shutting down a ton of shot attempts over all an amazing game for yerba buena with seen a bunch of growth with are boys. Friends & families of our seniors gathered and made posters and art to support them.

To highlight seniors specifically we will go through some amazing things our seniors did during the game, First of all Vince Vu, who as we mentioned scored the opening goal in the 1st quarter of the game but also had 5 amazing assists to Ethan who otherwise wouldn’t have gotten the ball without Vince’s amazing passes. Next, Isaac Sanchez, he was a wall in front of the goal and stopped many shots that without his outstanding efforts would have gone into the net without a doubt. We could not have won this game without our captain in the goal! Joseph Hankey had a stellar defensive performance, stealing the ball from an attacker twice and blocking a few passes. Finally Anthony Haws had his best defensive game of the season as well as 2 very good passes, on defense he was a barrier between his attacker and the goal, holding them back and making sure they couldn’t have a shooting lane.

The final score was 11-7 with YB emerging victorious.

That’s all for now warriors! This is your 2025 Water Polo team signing off from YBSN!
