Hey, Hey, Hey Warriors! On Wednesday, our YB wrestling team had their senior night and last home game of the season. Unfortunately, we lost 18-60, but the people showed up and showed their support for our seniors. Some notable moments were when Tiffany Duong hit a spectacular pin on her opponent and Vince Vu showed absolute grit and determination escaping a pin attempt after almost a minute of being on his back. We wish it would have gone differently, but everybody, especially our seniors gave it their all on the mat and we wish our seniors the best after having played their last match at Yerba Buena.

What's up Warriors? You are going to want to hear this one. This Wednesday, on January 21st, at 6:30 PM, our YB wrestling team will be having their senior night against Leland High School at home. Last season, YB was in the C League while Leland was in the A League. This season, YB has moved up to the B league while Leland has moved down to the B League. This looks to be an interesting one as this matchup is one that has not happened often and could be a chance for YB to beat a team that was previously in the highest league. Our seniors have worked hard all season and we congratulate them for their efforts for the team as their journey wrestling for YB comes to an end. This is unfortunately the last home match of the season so be sure to show up and show your love and support for our seniors!

Hey, Hey, Hey Warriors! Our wrestling match with Pioneer has concluded, it was a close and hard fought match but unfortunately we came up short. The final score was 35-44, and we were only one match away from winning. For Varsity, Mohannad Saadah Moreno won by forfeit, Brian Pham won by pin, captain Andy Ho won by pin, Vince Vu won by tech 16-1, Germaine Fregoso won by pin, and Joseph Lai won by forfeit. For the girls, Tiffany Duong won by tech 23-7, Chau Tran won by pin, and Tara Kaneshiro won by pin. For Junior Varsity, Hien Nguyen won by decision 9-8. Congratulations to all those who won their matches and thank you to everybody who showed up and showed their support. All our wrestlers gave it their all on the mats last night and they will be looking to bounce back from this loss on their senior night concluding their league matches.

How's it going Warriors? This Tuesday, on January 13th, at 6:30 PM, our YB wrestling team will be having their second home game of the season against Pioneer High School. This is an in league match in the Santa Teresa - East League. Last season, Yerba Buena ranked 5th with an 1-4 overall record while Pioneer ranked 2nd with a 4-1 overall record. This will be an opportunity for YB to prove themselves against someone that was ranked above them last year and hopefully start a win streak after their dominant victory in their last game against Overfelt. Come out and show your support after school for our Warriors and stay tuned for more news from YBSN!

What's up Warriors! Last night, our YB wrestling team pulled off a historic upset against Overfelt High School! We won our first match of the season at home and got our second win in B League. We came out on top despite Overfelt being favorites for the match, but our Warriors beat the odds and proved everybody wrong. We won with an overall score of 47-29, and our wrestlers got a lot of pins. A notable moment was when varsity captain Andy Ho was about to be pinned but managed to escape and ended up winning his match. Everyone on the team showed great determination and played with all their strength and gave it their all. Thank you to all those that came and showed their support and hopefully this is a start of a new win streak for our Warriors.

Hey, Hey, Hey Warriors! We hope that you had a great and restful winter break and were able to come back recharged. Our wrestling team is back and ready for the mats. This week, on Wednesday, January 7th, at 6:30 PM, our YB wrestling team will be facing off against Overfelt High School for their very first home match after four straight competitions away. The JV team was at Overfelt for a tournament against various schools earlier this season and now they will be coming to us for a match. This will be interesting because this will be an out of league match as Yerba Buena is in the Santa Teresa - East League while Overfelt is in the Santa Teresa - West League. Last season, they finished 6th place in their league with an overall record of 1-5 while we finished 5th place in our league with an overall record of 1-4. This looks to be an opportunity for YB to prove themselves against good competition and start off the new year 2026 right. Come to the match and show your support for the first home match of the season and hopefully our Warriors come out on top.

How's it going Warriors? Yesterday on Wednesday, our YB wrestling team went over to Sobrato High School for their second official match of the season. Here is what happened: Senior Joseph Lai had an extraordinary performance winning with his very first tech fall of the season 16-0 and senior Vince Vu won by pin in overtime with a score of 20-14. Unfortunately, the overall team score (different from individual scores) was 14-66. Despite it not going our away, all losses are lessons that will eventually lead to wins and they will be looking forward to their first home game of the season against Overfelt. Be sure to show up to that game and stay tuned for more news.

Hey, Hey, Hey Warriors! This Wednesday, on December 15th, at 6:30 PM, our YB wrestling team will be heading over to Sobrato High School for yet another away game. This will be against a league rival as they are also in the Santa Teresa - West league with us. Last season, Sobrato finished above us in league standings being 3rd place with a 3-2 overall record while we were in 5th place with a 1-4 overall record. This will serve as motivation for our Warriors combined with the fact that they are coming off a loss. They are hungry for a win and Sobrato High School should be ready for what is coming. Don't hesitate to come out and show your support and Go Warriors!

What's going on Warriors? Our YB wrestling team just concluded their match against Santa Teresa High School. It was a hard fought match, and our wrestlers gave it their all on the mat. Unfortunately, our Warriors lost with the overall score being 4-68, but Joseph Lai won his match. It was not the result they wanted, but the wrestlers will use this as a learning lesson and come back new and improved.

Hey Warriors! On Wednesday, December 10th, at 6:30 PM, our YB wrestling team will be facing off against Santa Teresa High School in an away match and their very first official match of the season! This will be a matchup against a league rival as both teams are in the Santa Teresa - East league. Last season, both teams finished with a losing record with Yerba Buena having a 1-4 record (5th place) and Santa Teresa with a 2-3 record (4th place). Both teams will be looking to make improvements from last year and compete to be on top of league rankings. This looks to be an opportunity for our Warriors to beat a team that was ranked ahead of us least season and show how much the team has improved and gotten better since. Our Warriors will win and show that we are not playing around this season.

Hey, Hey, Hey Warriors! The YB wrestling team just had a scrimmage against San Jose High School. Even though it was an unofficial match, it was still valuable experience that will help us prepare for our upcoming matches. Scores were not kept because of this, but some of our wrestlers still did well. Junior Duc Nguyen, Captain and Senior Andy Ho, Captain and Junior Kodey Habon, Junior Watson Dang, Senior Vince Vu, and Junior Brian Pham all performed exceptionally on Monday. All our wrestlers had fun and wrestled hard out there and will be ready for their upcoming first official match of the season against Santa Teresa High School. How's it going Warriors? I have exciting news to share. On Monday, December 8th, at 6:30 PM, our YB wrestling team will be heading over to San Jose High School for a scrimmage against them. This looks to be an interesting matchup as this will be an out of league match. Yerba Buena is in the Santa Teresa - East league while San Jose is in the West Valley league. Last year, we finished with a 1-4 record while the Bulldogs had an 0-5 record. Although this is not an official match, both teams will be coming in with a chip on their shoulder as they had losing seasons last year and are looking to start this season off right. We hope the best for our Warriors and are confident they will win!

Hey, Hey, Hey Warriors! Last Friday, our YB JV wrestling team had a tournament at Overfelt High School. Here is what happened for the boys: Junior Watson Dang placed 2nd in his weight class with a 2-1 overall record, Junior Duc Nguyen placed 4th in his weight class with a 2-2 overall record, and Freshman Mohannad Saadah placed 3rd in his weight class with a 1-2 overall record. For the girls: Senior Chau Tran placed 6th in her weight class with a 2-2 overall record, and Senior Tara Kaneshiro placed 4th in her weight class with a 3-3 overall record. Congratulations to them for placing in their division and we look forward to facing San Jose High next.
