Hey Warrior family! Our football team had an extremely good night yesterday! Our JV squad blew out the 76ers 28-0. The offense was very competent, but the defense was the star of the game. They had 3 pick 6s led by #6 Darwyn Elvir, #9 Xavi, and Jesus Gonzalez. JV defense also forced 3 sacks against Indy, with #21 Israel Moutali and #52 Santiago Madero being the reason behind it. Our Varsity guys showed out and won 26-23 in a very close and intense game. Varsity had 4 touchdowns from #16 Jospeh Silva, #0 Nathan Tran & #7 Collin Tengson who both had 2 point conversions. The warriors also sacked the 76ers QB 3 times from #14 Angel Tran, #53 Isaiah Campos, and #33 Michael Montoya. #30 Jason Phan and #24 Johnny Nguyen caused 2 forced fumbles against Independence aswell. Then with less than 40 seconds left on the clock and Indy driving down the field, the 76ers QB threw the ball down the middle to casper the ghost and our safety, #33 Michael Montoya, caught the ball at the 10 yard line for a game-ending interception. Our student section erupted in delirious cheering after Michael came down with the ball securing the win, keeping the warriors undefeated both at home and in league. The warriors face off against another tough matchup in league, the San Jose Bulldogs, for their homecoming night on October 3rd. This might be the year the warriors come out on top after being in the mud for too long. #fearthespear
